I stumbled upon this piece of really depressing news this morning. It's one thing to point out the stupidity of individuals trying to get their point across by looting and burning a city, but it certainly clears up quite a bit to take note of the things being stolen and more importantly the items being overlooked completely. Must be a very intelligent bunch of rioters.
Is this surprising to anyone?
On another note. I've said this before and I'd like to point it out again. Immediately after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan this year it was incredible to me how dignified the country as a whole was taking the suffering. Japan's dignified response to the earthquake and tsunami. You could also contrast this with murder, rape, and looting that took place after Hurricane Katrina.
I hope this gives us something to think about for the future of not just America but what is supposedly the developed and civilized West as a whole.
